Term 4

Week 9:

  • Read chapters 25-28
  • Complete your Literature Circle role
  • Read History of Furniture (grades 3&4 to read all blue sections and explain 3 of them, grades 5&6 to read all blue and at least 3 red and explain 5 of them)

Week 8:

  • Read chapters 20-24 (we will assign new roles)
  • Design a new piece of furniture, label the parts with the materials, give the dimensions (length in centimeters), build it.
  • Grammar sheet.

Week 7: Read chapters 17 – 20

Week 6:

  • Read chapters 10 – 16
  • Other tasks on English page of blog

Week 5:

  • Read chapters 7, 8 & 9
  • Run your own Literature Circle: Discussion Director Koleti, Character Captain Jason, Travel Tracer Patrick, Vocabulary Enricher Traveen,  Artistic Artist Bridie, Literary Luminary Vanessa

Week 10: Read chapters 29-32

 

After a few weeks of working from myEd we return to the blog…

Week 4 Tasks:

  • The Marvellous Toy design: watch the video on the English page, read the lyrics and then design what you believe the marvellous toy looks like. Your design must match the elements explained in the lyrics. Prove that it does by labelling the toy with the elements from the lyrics. This must be sketched, revised and published to your blog.
  • Read ch 5 & 6 of ‘Poison Study’
  • Complete your literature circle role for Wednesday

 

WEEK 8 Must Do Tasks

  • Compare ‘Cinderella is Evil’ with traditional fairy tale (what is similar and completely different)
  • Finish ‘Poetry’ myEd webquest
  • Read first chapter and complete new role
  • Publish last week’s Big Write on a Google Doc
  • Complete your MA spelling word

WEEK 6 Must Do Tasks

  • Read chapter 4 & 5 of ‘Cinderella is evil’
  • Complete your literature circle role
  • Watch Bob Graham and answer the questions
  • Have a go at writing a poem
  • Choose one Bob Graham text and complete 3 Matrix activities

WEEK 5 Must Do Tasks

  • Read chapter 4 of Cinderella is Evil
  • Complete Literature Circle role
  • Using the Immigration Museum website, find the story of 3 different people and summarise by answering who they are, where they came from, why they left the country and how they now contribute to Australia.

WEEK 4 Must Do Tasks

  • Read chapter 2 & 3 of Cinderella is Evil
  • Complete Literature Circle role
  • Answer the 5 Inquiry contributing questions, one paragraph each and a picture on your blog
  • Finish Big Write from last week and upload to your blog

WEEK 3 Must Do Tasks

  • Read chapter 1 of ‘Cinderella is evil’
  • Complete your Literature Circle role
  • Publish (type) both fables written in Big Write
  • Read ‘The Sudanese Community In Australia’ and answer the questions
  1. Who from a Sudanese family is mostly like to come to Australia?
  2. When is the main year that Sudanese people came to Australia?
  3. Which other countries did they come from?
  4. What were the events that lead Sudanese people to come to Australia?
  5. Why did Sudanese people come to Australia?
  6. How have Sudanese people contributed to Australia?

 

WEEK 2 Must Do Tasks

  • Literature Circle role [organise in focus group]
  • View and respond: Commonwealth Games medal winner
  • Create a fable using an app (Puppet Pals etc)
  • Read ‘Underground Army;’ define unknown words, write a summary of the text and answer the questions;
  1. What do you think is the most important discovery in this text?
  2. Why do you think the discovery is historically important?
  3. Where do you think another discovery like this could be made?
  4. How do you think they were preserved?

WEEK 1 Must Do Tasks

  • Read ‘The Young Thief and His Mother’ and answer the questions.
  • Play ‘Flags’ game
  • Watch ‘The Eagle and the Turtle’ fable then explain what the message of the fable is
